PIIACUF Has Potential To Become Marketing Hub For Islamic Arts And Culture

PUTRAJAYA – The Putrajaya International Islamic Arts and Cultural Festival (PIIACUF) being held at Dataran Putrajaya here has potential of becoming the marketing hub for Islamic arts and culture, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said today.

He said Islamic artists worldwide would gather here for the next five days to promote their works of arts.

“I believe there are opportunities to conduct business for products and services which are based on Islamic arts and culture, like film animation, music, craft, fashion and painting,” he said when opening PIIACUF at Dataran Putrajaya, Precinct 3, here Tuesday.

Also present were Putrajaya Corporation president Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat and AlHijrah TV chairman Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Noor.

Themed, ‘From Andalucia to Putrajaya, PIIACUF is organised by Putrajaya Corporation and AlHijrah TV as the official media. It begins today and will end on Nov 10. Jamil Khir said PIIACUF also served as a platform to strengthen international relations in the sharing of Islamic based socio-culture and arts.

“This is very important because only through good cooperation and strategic partnership can we share knowledge,” he added.

Meanwhile, Aseh said PIIACUF would be an annual event, hence making Putrajaya the centre of excellence for Islamic arts and culture, as well as boosting its image as a tourism hub. –BERNAMA
