Lebanese-born Swedish international singer and composer, Maher Zain, meteoric rise as a superstar in the entertainment industry began in November 2009. His emergence with the debut album ‘Thank You Allah’ exploded and soon became a phenomenon particularly in the Malaysian music scene.
His first ever live appearance in Malaysia in two mini-concerts held in Shah Alam on October 14th and 15th received an unprecedented and overwhelming response. Without any major promotion, tickets were sold out within a matter of days leaving many more disappointed fans clamouring for additional performances. The 2-night shows not only attracted Malaysian fans, but also his die-hard fans from Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines.
On November 1st, 2010, Maher Zain became the first Muslim artist to hit 1 million fans on Facebook just one year after the launch of his first album, a feat unmatched by any other contemporary artist. Statistically, more than 65% of the fan base is Malaysians. As one local magazine aptly puts it, Maher Zain is a phenomenon. In early March 2010, Maher’s debut album, Thank You Allah, (released by Awakening Records) was the number 1 highest selling album on Amazon (in the world music section).
Maher has already had concerts in Sweden, Canada, Australia, US, UK, France, Egypt, Algeria and Bahrain to mention just a few. Due to this unprecedented success, Inteam Records as exclusive distributor of Maher Zain’s album in Malaysia, in collaboration with Fiero Entertainment and Awakening Entertainment is planning to keep the phenomenon’s momentum going by organising the MAHER ZAIN LIVE IN CONCERT 2011. This event will be held in Malawati Stadium, Shah Alam on February 25th and 26th.
