When Maher Zain<\/a> released his single “Ramadan”<\/a> for the coming of Ramadan, it signalled the coming of this holy month as well as a reminder for us to do better than our previous Ramadan.<\/p>\n

In the spirit of Ramadan, Native Deen has launched a brand new Islamic-compliant tv channel, aptly named “Deen.TV”. As some of us know, Deen refers to the Arabic word “faith’, and with this name, the focus of Deen.TV is in the spiritual and religious themed entertainment aimed at all walks of life.<\/p>\n

If one look at the site, Deen.TV is akin to MTV due to its wide range of religious music videos. But what sets this site apart from what one can do in YouTube is the introduction of Islamic themed hours. Since most satellite based Islamic channels host a lot of scholarly talks and lectures, Deen.TV took it upon themselves to create their own contents, creating halal entertainment in 6 segments; Kids Hour, HipHop, Voice Only, Traditional, Top Hits and Exclusive.<\/p>\n

Why the word Halal? From the writers point of view, it is the target and the aim of the content developers that makes it Sharia-compliant. By utilising Ustream services, Deen.Tv creates slots for different segments. Even with choppy internet services from where the writer is, the streaming was good enough that the writer could enjoy the Kids Hour and Hip-Hop hour. What may seem as common, it is not. The Kids Hours streams cartoons and kids shows that will attract the attention of children, while at the same time increasing their understanding on the tenets and principles of Islam.<\/p>\n

The Hip-hop hour has religious videoclips akin to the days of Soldiers of Allah (SoA), where the lyrics contained the messages about our duties and what we must do to accomplish them.<\/p>\n

With the introduction of this online television, Deen.TV hopes to gather all forms of halal entertainment, be it reality tv series (Perhaps an international form of Imam Muda?), amateur animations that teaches children to read the Quran better or even comedy that are much better than the sometimes lewd comedy shows on the television.<\/p>\n

One might say that Deen.TV can be the next, better form of the Islamic themed programs, and perhaps the next generation of public-generated programs that are beneficial to all of us.<\/p>\n

There not much content at the moment, but should Deen.Tv gathers enough steam, they can actually be the number one online tv site for everyone to enjoy, relax and remember that the lives that they have belongs to Allah, and that we are His vicegerants, and live to the fullest with the accordinance of Islam.<\/p>\n
