Zain Bhikha, one of South Africa’s most influential Muslim community members, celebrated his 20 years on May 1st by releasing his 2-CD and 3-DVD sets entitled “Songs of a Soul”.
Featuring 4 new songs including the stunning new single ‘Someday’, the CD & DVD serve as a ‘best of’ collection, celebrating 20 sterling years and tipping the hat to a remarkable musical career.
Zain Bhikha, who was voted as one of the 500 most influential Muslims in the world, recently filmed and recorded the live performance of a lifetime, in order to bring “Songs Of A Soul” to life. These best loved songs were made better with the accompaniment of full choirs and special guests, bringing about these traditional and well-loved songs to a much greater height.
The DVD collection boasts a magnificitent live concert, filmed at the Atterbury Theate, a biographical documentary and a collection of music videos, showing the glimpse of this influential man’s soul. Marked with the synonymity of Faith, Hope and the need for global peace that resonates in his songs, had brought about the creation of this particular collection – as voted by the fans themselves. These songs too are a representation of Zain’s present and give a message of thanks and love that he feels for his fans after all these years. Over 21 songs live in concert, including 4 brand new songs, the show features artists such as Dawud Wharnsby, Khalid Belrhouzi, Khalil Ismail and Omar Reagan.
With the documentary, Zain took a fresh approach. He asked his fans to send through letters of how his music had impacted on their lives. The letters received were astounding and showed the place that the artist held in so many of their hearts. The director Amr Singh visited countries across the globe, from Australia to the US, documenting these stories. The documentary is unique, honest and deeply moving.
The last disc on the DVD collection is a wonderful commemorative bonus disc of 26 music videos, many of which have gained international acclaim for their excellent production and inspiring stories.
In this beautiful and blessed month of May and Rejab, Zain will embark on a country-wide tour in order to promote this fantastic commemorative release. His tour will reach schools and other Muslim community venues and end up in the UK, where he has an extremely strong fan-base.
